Social Media Intern
Volunteer | 5-10 hours/week | Remote
We’re looking for a creative and culturally attuned Social Media Manager to help bring Lotus Magazine’s stories to life online.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys visual storytelling, community engagement, and building digital spaces that celebrate AAPI culture and creativity. The Social Media Manager will help translate our editorial content into engaging social posts while helping grow and nurture the Lotus community across platforms.
What You’ll Do
Manage Lotus Magazine’s social media presence (primarily Instagram, with potential expansion to TikTok or other platforms)
Create and schedule posts that highlight articles, interviews, artists, and community events
Design visually compelling posts, reels, and story content
Collaborate with writers and editors to translate editorial stories into engaging social content
Engage with the community by responding to comments, messages, and community conversations
Track engagement and help identify content that resonates with our audience

Enjoy creating visually engaging content
Have experience with or interest in platforms like Instagram, TikTok, or Pinterest
Have a strong sense of aesthetic and visual storytelling
Are organized and comfortable managing posting schedules
Can commit 5–10 hours per week
Experience with tools like Canva, Notion, Adobe, CapCut, or scheduling platforms is a plus but not required
