Team Member Feature: Michelle Ta

Hi, I’m Michelle and I’m a UI/UX designer. I've been doing design for over 3 years, and I've dabbled into tech and design throughout my childhood into college. When I discovered UI/UX, I was blown away, so I just had to pursue tech that way. In my early days of college, I decided to look into UI/UX, did a bootcamp, did a whole bunch of agency work, sales work, and fintech work, and other side projects. I also am here volunteering at Lotus Magazine–it’s just so cool to meet like-minded people and support each other and contribute to communities as well.

Sunnyside, one of my current projects

A little bit about the mental health app, Sunnyside: it’s to provide accessible, affordable teletherapy, and we provide mental health tools, such as educational articles written by other individuals who struggle with mental health to share their stories to help other users feel less alone in their situations and to create community. Fostering that community is really important for us to really start building upon this first iteration and really diving deeper into how we can build community between patients and users as well as mental health professionals.

We’re launching in March 2023, which is so exciting. I’ve been doing this for over 3 years with a group of friends. Our team has grown from a very small chunk to over 20 people. It’s just so cool to see so many people passionate about mental health.
