Team Member Feature: Louise Tolentino

Hi, I’m Louise! I do a lot of the behind the scenes work, like social media, and I’m also a writer and editor for Lotus Magazine. I’ve been a part of the team since September 2021, so it’s been over a year. I’ve definitely enjoyed working with the people on the team. It’s been very fun and interactive, as we’ve been coming up with different novel ideas that I feel like no other Asian-founded organizations are doing. I don’t think I could say I know as many Asian founded organizations that do an e-magazine.

I have a strong passion for public health and social work, because I definitely believe in the power of mental health and preventative education. Preventative education can help inform people of how to better take care of themselves in terms of mental health or support someone when they’re going through something. One of my goals is to become a therapist as well as a health educator in the future. I’ve also been open to other avenues as well, such as policy making within that realm.

A little bit about Louise’s current work

I’m currently working as a project coordinator at Rady Children’s Hospital. My department in particular focuses on early intervention for children ages 0 to 5. It’s usually the first step for families that have some concerns for their child–if there’s some sort of development delay such as speech delay or gross motor, etc. in getting them connected to other resources that are more long-term. Our program is short-term and focuses on getting help.
